Producer and Filmmaker
JR Jordan is a seasoned filmmaker with a rich history in the industry, marked by a passion that began in childhood and has spanned over four decades. His journey into filmmaking began in 1980 when, at the age of 11, he picked up a Super 8mm film camera and started making movies with his neighborhood friends. By the time he was a teenager, JR had already created dozens of 3-minute films, showcasing his early dedication and natural talent for storytelling.
After serving in the Army during Desert Storm, JR pursued his passion for cinema by attending the Montana State University Cinema School from 1990 to 1994. There, he honed his craft using 16mm film cameras from Arri, Bolex, and CP, and his senior film, “Twilight Falling,” made its mark on the festival circuit.
In 1995, JR began his professional career in earnest, quickly adapting to new technologies and trends in the industry. In 2006, he produced the TV pilot “Paranormal and Reality” using cutting-edge HD video technology, showcasing his ability to stay ahead of the curve.
The following year, JR expanded his expertise into the real estate sector by forming the company My Elegant Properties, which specialized in creating high-quality real estate videos. This endeavor led to the formation of My Elegant Videos in 2008, through which he filmed over 200 live events over the next decade.
JR’s versatile talent saw him produce commercials and training videos for the REI Real Estate Investment Group in 2008 and music and concert videos for a variety of artists. His work with Top New Country Western Music Recording Artist Glitter Rose in 2009, the Emerald City Band’s “Rock the 11,” “Rock the 12,” and “Rock the 13” concerts from 2011 to 2013, and artists like Grammy award winning DeAnthony McGee and Bobby Sparks in 2012 solidified his reputation in the music video industry. In 2014, he continued this trajectory by producing music and concert videos for Leah Marr, a multiple Billboard Top 100 recording artist.
In 2015, JR produced a series of concert videos and commercials for Miller Lite. This series of concerts had Top Mexican recording artists such as Intocable, and Larry hernandez. In 2016, he worked on a segment of backstage and roaming coverage for a major FOX Telemundo concert at the House of Blues Dallas. That same year, he founded New Dawn Cinema and began production on the feature-length documentary “Whispers of the Mountain.”
In 2018, JR took on multiple roles as director, producer, cinematographer, and editor for the short film “A Family Thing,” further showcasing his multifaceted skill set. This short film went on to win Semi-Finalist in the Dreammachine International Film Festival 2020 and Official Selection at the Las Vegas International Film & Screenwriting Festival in 2020. His long-term project, “Whispers of the Mountain,” saw its principal photography completed in 2024 on a Canon C500 Mark II Cinema camera, a testament to his dedication and perseverance.
